Decolonise Fest comes to Glasgow!

Intercultural Youth Scotland
November 8, 2023

Decolonise Fest is a space that allows BPoC communities to advocate for emerging artists of colour, foster a community of like-minded people, connect punx of colour to global struggles against the legacy of colonialism, and indulge in our love of punk together.

The gig venue guide: Mono, Glasgow | Music | The Guardian

This year, the collective is bringing a piece of Decolonise Festival to Scotland for a night of live music and celebration. Mono will play host the event November 11th with performances from SAMA ‘Best Live Act’ nominee and protest musician, Kapil Seshasayee, singer and guitarist (Trash Kit, Sacred Paws) R.AAGS, and R’n’B Neo Soul artist, Trishaaa.

The annual London-based festival is a volunteer-run, non-profit DIY punk festival collectively organised by and for punx of colour. The collective is made up of activists, militant community organisers, musicians, and artists that came together to hold their first festival in 2017.

"The Decolonise collective is thrilled to bring a taste of our festival outside of London for the first time. Glasgow's history of amazing music and radicalism makes it the perfect place to begin our On Tour series of shows. This show will not only give local alternative artists of colour the opportunity to shine on stage, it also offers the chance for Scotland-based POC punks and allies to commune and build solidarity.” - Alex Ekong

Decolonise Fest: On Tour – Glasgow takes place at 8pm, Saturday 11th November at MONO, 12 Kings Court, Kings Street, Glasgow
